Jiu-Jitsu San Clemente Family Potluck BBQ this Sunday

We are looking forward to the awesome Guillobel Jiu-Jitsu San Clemente Family potluck BBQ this Sunday! Come spend great quality time with your Jiu-Jitsu team mates and make sure to bring your family and friends! Let’s have a blast at the park, breathing fresh air, playing sports (such as soccer, basketball, football, Frisbee, etc…), eating healthy and delicious food (FYI – BJJ Sensei Paulo is also a 4th degree Black Belt in Brazilian BBQ, you MUST check this out!) and enjoying good entertainment alongside loved ones. The Jiu-Jitsu Brazilian BBQ party will be held this Sunday, February 13th 2011, at Liberty Park in San Clemente (Talega).

Furthermore, there are too many people at our Jiu-Jitsu academy claiming they are good at soccer. As you all know (if you didn’t, now you do), soccer is HUGE in Brazil, therefore you better step your game up, because we will even have a little soccer competition! ;)

Speaking of competition, our 2010 World no Gi Champion and Coach Jason Hughes grilled a mean Tri-Tip at the last UFC BBQ pool party! Make sure to keep your guard up Jason, because other proud parents are claiming to be “Grill Masters” and they
will be bringing their A-Game to the Barbeque.

Oh, by the way, whoever made those awesome Brazilian Brigadeiro sweets at the “2010 Picture Day”, please, please, please, make us some more of those! It’s a potluck event and Guillobel Jiu-Jitsu will provide all the meat (beef and chicken), therefore feel free to bring your specialty (and / or drinks) so we can all share some of our traditions. Also, please make sure you confirm the E-vite, enabling the staff to purchase the right amount of meat. If you did not receive the E-vite or require additional information,

The Top BJJ Student of the Month from our Jiu-Jitsu San Clemente Academy Is…

2011 started off great at Guillobel Jiu-Jitsu and Martial Arts in San Clemente!

Jiu-Jitsu San Clemente January Student of the Month

Children, Teenagers and Adults martial artists are working hard to conquer their goals for the year. BJJ Medal chasers are already bringing back home some fresh gold (Awesome Job Joaquim and Mitch!). It is just a little taste of what will come on the following months inside and out of our jiu-jitsu mats.

Every month, one of the hardest tasks for the coaches at our Jiu-Jitsu San Clemente Academy is to decide the “Student of the Month”. The main reason is our kids have been working extra hard to achieve BJJ Black Belt attitude level, inside and outside of the mats. Sensei Paulo recently shared the following thought in the Gold Leadership Program Class: “Leadership Is Example.”

Therefore, the BJJ Student of the Month must be a Role Model to the class, and he / she will have the opportunity to lead the class for the entire following month. Sensei Mehdi wisely said: “It takes a good follower to become a good leader”. If one doesn’t know how to learn, how can he / she know how to teach?

January 2011 Jiu-Jitsu Little Kids Student of the Month, Christian Ziesmer, has proven to be a great follower and leader, demonstrating amazing focus, self control and positive attitude, not to mention he is getting tougher by the day on the mats! Furthermore, he understands that the status of “Student of The Month” comes with glories, but with responsibilities as well. Therefore, he has been doing an excellent job in leading the warm up drills alongside the coaches and remains being a great example to be followed by whoever wishes to be awarded “Student of The Month”. Our BJJ Martial Artist Christian is currently a white belt with 2 stripes (1 white for skill levels and 1 golden for behavior and participation) and if he keeps up his commitment level, soon enough, he will start adding colors to his belt as well as trophies to his collection! Great Job Christian!!

Being a Student of The Month at our San Clemente Jiu-Jitsu Martial Arts Academy is a full time job, so keep working hard, because we are watching closely! Have a great week and let’s all keep improving that 1% a day!

San Clemente Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Get Together/Potluck will be on Feb 13th at the Liberty Party in Talega, 92673. Our so loved instructors will show that they are also Black Belts Chefs. Our Jiu Jitsu Academy will bring the meat (red meat and chicken) and we’ll cook it on our famous and delicious Brazilian Way. You will love it! All you have to do is bring something to contribute: appetizers, side dishes or drinks.

And The 2 Winners From BJJ San Clemente Are…

One of BJJ San Clemente School’s goal is to create the best friendly and family environment possible. So far, our students feedbacks and just the amazing feeling to be around so many friends (inside and outside the mat) were our confirmation that Guillobel Jiu-Jitsu is the best academy. But after our Fundraiser, our friendship was moved to a whole new level.

My mom always said that “you see who is your friend when you truly need them”.

BJJ San Clemente and its students are proud to be there for Dave and more 8 people who lost everything last Jan 21st after a fire burned entirely their building. A total of $315+ were raised from our students in only 1 week and couple days. Isn’t this amazing, hum?

Today, Dave himself thanked all for the support, friendship and generosity. He picked the winner of the jiu-jitsu gears that our BJJ San Clemente Academy donated. And the winners are…

– Jason Hughes won Saulo Ribeiro’s New Line Gi; and

– Christa and Ryder won the BJJ Kid’s Basket with Guillobel T-Shirt, our BJJ Backpack, and Hat.

Thank you all our martial arts, friends and residents of San Clemente, Dana Point and San Juan Capistrano for helping.

San Clemente BJJ Fundraiser Raffle is Tomorrow

San Clemente BJJ Martial Artist Dave Lost Everything

San Clemente BJJ raffles tomorrow, Tuesday Feb 1st, jiu-jitsu gears and products. The money raised – so far more than $300 – is to help our BJJ Martial Arts student Dave (Dave lost everything after the building where he lived got burned because of an electrical problem, last Jan 21st).

Dave will be the one picking the lucky winner this Tuesday at 6 pm, before our Adults Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Judo Class, at our San Clemente Academy. If you want to donate, please buy your raffle tickets, for $5 each. Let’s support and help our friend and community! You still have time!

Building Where Our Jiu-Jitsu Student Used to Live Before the Fire

It’s amazing what we, from Brazilian Jiu–Jitsu San Clemente, can do together as a family. So far we sold more than 35 raffle tickets to help our dear friend and Jiu-Jitsu Student Dave, who lost everything last Friday when the fire burned all his belongs. Like Dave, 3 other apartments, where more than 10 other people used to live, got totally destroyed.

“That’s what makes our Jiu–Jitsu San Clemente Academy so Unique. We come together as a family. We help each other… We develop not only respect but empathy. And that’s very remarkable, specially in a world more and more cruel” says our Professor Black Belt Paulo Guillobel.

San Clemente Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Belt Upgrade – January 2011

Guillobel San Clemente Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu awarded today 6 BJJ students from our Jiu-Jitsu Kids Empowerment Program. Sensei Paulo upgraded Martial Artists Luciana, Eva and Joaquim and Matthew Cisneros to their next belt. Jonas and Jadon received a new stripe.

“It’s impressive to see how you guys are improving on the mat and outside of it. I’ve been following up with your parents and they agree with me. We are all proud of you all because uou all are being empowered not only with techniques, but with character… Remember, with power comes responsibility.”, Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt Paulo shares his thoughts before the upgrade.

San Clemente Jiu-Jitsu Together to Help a Friend

San Clemente Jiu-Jitsu Students House on Fire

“San Clemente Jiu-Jitsu is more than an academy. We are brothers and sister from different mothers and fathers”, says BJJ Black Belt Paulo Guillobel trying to break the ice for a very sad reality.

Unfortunately, today a 4 unit building got on fire and absolutely nothing could be saved. The building was home of one of our student, Dave Davidson.

More than 2 years ago, Dave chose our Guillobel BJJ Academy to train our so loved Martial Arts. Now, when he so much needs, is time for us to show our appreciation and support. So let’s help!

Guillobel Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu San Clemente will raffle 2 baskets with up to $150 value in BJJ gears and clothes.

Please, tip in. ALL the money from the raffles will be given to Dave. The basket will be raffle in 2 weeks on Feb 1st, Tuesday, at the end of our Jiu-Jitsu Kids Class.
