San Clemente Jiu-Jitsu bows to this Example of Goal Settings

San Clemente BJJ Instructor Paulo Guillobel took 8 years to earn his jiu-jitsu black belt. But it’s not about how long it takes, It is about achieving it and the extraordinary feeling of doing so. Everything started because our professor had set a goal, and he’s never taken his mind away from it. His goal was to wear proudly the top belt, but most importantly, to live, to know, and to honor what that belt represents.

San Clemente Jiu-Jitsu knows how important goal setting is to anyone to accomplish their dreams – on the mat or outside of it. Our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy respectfully bows to San Clemente resident William “Bill” Laity for becoming the world’s record holder of the longest continuous surf session. That’s a great example of goal setting and accomplishment. Very impressive! Very inspiring! Watch this video above and tell me what you think.

BJJ San Clemente Student’s Profile

Name, Day of Birth: Chris Whelan April 26, 1972

Hometown/ Current town/ how long have you been living there: Born and raised in San Clemente

Occupation: Owner of concrete pumping business
Why have you decided to study Brazilian Ji-jitsu? And How long have you been training? I enrolled my son Christian into Paulo’s Martial Arts classes to build his confidence, after watching him have such a good time I decided to give it a try and I was instantly hooked. I have been training our self-defense martial art about 10 or 11 months and Christian has been training for a little over 1 year
Your son studies BJJ with us. Talk a little bit about him and the improvement you both have been making since you started it: Christians confidence has grown immensely from BJJ not to mention his strength and coordination and as for myself I feel that I am in the best physical shape I have been in for years!
We find that when the parent and child study BJJ together, they are more likely to accomplish a lot more. What are your thoughts on this subject? I believe that taking BJJ together with Christian has made the experience better for both of us. Christian gets to talk to me about jiu-jitsu and practice his moves on me. I think I am more dedicated to train because of him.
So far, what was your biggest accomplishment in BJJ? Winning the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pro Gear San Clemente tournament.
And your Child’s biggest accomplishment? Getting his white and yellow belt and winning the BJJ Pro Gear tournament here in San Clemente.
Do you have any other hobby? I like to surf but I am not very good at it.
Your final thoughts: Enrolling Christian and myself is one of the best decisions I have made. Obviously I think Guillobel BJJ is best place to learn BJJ, but equally important is the environment that Paulo Guillobel, Cata, and Andre provide. I have made a lot of new friends, the Guillobel Academy truly is like one big family.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu San Clemente Leads Us to Glory

Everyday when Paulo and I wake up, the first questions that come in our minds are: how do we impact positively our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu students’ lives and our San Clemente community? How can we make them live happier days through Jiu-Jitsu? Or better, how can we make it MEANINGFUL?

Everyday – I mean, every single day – we answer these questions differently. And everyday, we are getting better and better answers, that lead us to a better and better actions, systems, results, and, most important, relationships.

Guillobel Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu San Clemente is not only a regular school – because first of all it’s not only a school. The academy is a place where we meet to build our friendship. Guillobel BJJ San Clemente is a family that every one of its members CHOOSE to be in. Our mutual respect is our ties; our mutual admiration is our bond. Our mutual love is our recipe to success.

Every single one of our BJJ students make Guillobel BJJ San Clemente magical, because every single one is allowed and encouraged to bring their own qualities to work on their weaknesses. Together, we become better individuals. We taste and share glory.

P.S.: The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Excellence Journey isn’t easy, isn’t short. And that’s why Guillobel Jiu-Jitsu is selective, exclusive. We know that is not everybody who are willing to achieve greatness. Ok is enough for a lot of people – and for them, they have other options besides the tradition and high standards taught at Guillobel BJJ San Clemente. We are here for whom that seeks transformation, not convenience.
